Preview Classic Clothing on a neutral rig

This Roblox clothing preview opens PNG, JPG, or WebP artwork inside the current browser tab and maps the relevant source rectangles onto an independently designed neutral rig. Choose Classic Shirt, Classic Pants, or Classic T-shirt; switch between blocky R6 and segmented R15 inspection models; rotate and scale the rig; change the stage background; and highlight every rendered face boundary. No selected image is uploaded.

The preview is a technical browser visualization, not an official Roblox character or renderer. Shirt pixels are read from the torso and arm rectangles in the shared Classic Clothing UV registry. Pants use the torso and leg rectangles. T-shirt artwork appears only on the torso front. The neutral geometry contains no copied Roblox avatar art, account appearance, catalog item, or proprietary character image.

Understanding the dimension result

A 585×559 image matches the full canvas dimensions used by current Classic Shirt and Pants templates. Because both formats share complete dimensions, choose the correct clothing type before opening the file. The preview then crops the appropriate 18 UV face rectangles instead of stretching the complete unfolded template over the model.

A square image is classified as a possible Classic T-shirt artwork shape. The preview accepts different square sizes for inspection, while the dedicated maker exports 512×512. A square portrait is not automatically good T-shirt art; readability and rights still matter.

Other rectangular dimensions receive a warning. They may be references, screenshots, cropped templates, or unsupported assets. Fitting them into a maker can produce a correctly sized output canvas, but it cannot reconstruct UV coordinates destroyed by cropping or distortion.

R6 and R15 inspection modes

R6 uses six block-style body parts: head, torso, two arms, and two legs. Shirt artwork covers the torso and arms; Pants artwork covers the lower torso and legs. The T-shirt graphic is placed on the torso front. Each cuboid exposes front, back, left, right, top, and bottom surfaces as the rig rotates.

R15 mode divides the neutral silhouette into upper and lower torso sections plus upper, lower, and end sections for each limb. The same Classic UV face is divided vertically across those visual segments. This makes changes at shoulders, elbows, waist, knees, and feet easier to inspect. It is still an approximation for image review, not a reproduction of Roblox deformation, body scaling, animation, or clothing projection.

Transparency checker background

The checkerboard reveals fully and partially transparent areas. It is an interface background and is not added to the image. Transparent margins are easy to distinguish from white pixels, which remain visible.

Look for unexpected holes, pale halos, and semitransparent edges left by background-removal software. In full clothing templates, determine whether clear pixels are intentional for the selected body region. In T-shirt art, transparent space can isolate an emblem over the avatar torso.

Light and dark background tests

Switch to white to find pale edge halos and low-contrast light artwork. Switch to dark to find dark fringes, black outlines that disappear, and partially transparent pixels that blend differently. A graphic can look clean over one background and poor over another.

These backgrounds do not represent every avatar color or world lighting condition. They are quick contrast tests. Keep critical outlines readable across expected appearance colors, then test the final asset on an appropriate rig.

Rotation, zoom, and seam inspection

Rotation changes the CSS 3D viewing angle without altering the image. Use front, side, and back angles to inspect whether the intended UV faces received artwork. Zoom changes only the neutral stage model scale and does not resample, edit, or export the file.

Seam inspection adds a high-contrast outline to every rendered face and R15 body segment. The outline is not part of the texture. It helps locate boundaries and compare adjacent panels, but it does not claim that two colors, patterns, or alpha edges are artistically continuous. Use the separate clothing checker for measurable alpha seam warnings.

PNG, JPG, and WebP inputs

PNG is preferred for Classic Clothing work because it preserves alpha and hard edges. JPG can be previewed but normally lacks transparency and may contain block or ringing artifacts. WebP can preserve alpha, but current target publishing requirements should be verified before use.

The browser decodes the actual file content. Renaming an extension does not guarantee conversion. If the source should be PNG, re-export it in a proper image editor or local maker.

Live updates from the local editors

The Shirt, Pants, and T-shirt makers publish a throttled preview frame at most once per browser animation frame. If this preview is open in another same-origin tab, the current canvas is transferred through a browser-only BroadcastChannel and remapped onto the selected rig. Pixels do not enter a URL, analytics event, upload API, database, or server log.

Live preview is temporary. Reloading both tabs loses the frame, and opening the viewer after editing may require one additional canvas change. The channel carries only the clothing type and an in-memory PNG data URL; it does not include the source filename, account data, username, or project identifier.

Technical preview versus Studio testing

This rig shows which source rectangles reach the neutral torso and limbs and provides a useful first seam view. It does not reproduce Roblox Studio lighting, material behavior, avatar packages, body scaling, animation poses, moderation, or final rendering. A browser CSS cuboid and a platform avatar answer different questions.

After local inspection, use the clothing checker for dimensions and alpha statistics, then test through the current Roblox Studio workflow. Rotate the actual target avatar and inspect front, back, sides, shoulders, inner limbs, cuffs, and transitions. This sequence catches source-file errors before final platform testing without treating the local preview as approval evidence.

Layered Clothing is outside this tool

Classic Clothing uses flat Shirt, Pants, and T-shirt images. Layered Clothing is a different 3D asset workflow involving meshes, cages, rigging, skinning, deformation, and platform validation. Selecting R15 here changes the neutral inspection geometry; it does not convert a Classic PNG into a Layered Clothing item or validate a mesh.

Local privacy behavior

The file input creates a temporary object URL inside the browser. The page reads natural dimensions and displays the decoded image. Replacing the file or closing the page releases that temporary reference. There is no upload endpoint, account, database, public gallery, or cloud project.

Local preview protects unpublished artwork from unnecessary transfer, but it also provides no backup. The original file remains unchanged. Save edits in the dedicated maker or your graphics program.

Content rights and platform rules

Previewing an image does not grant permission to publish it. Use original or licensed artwork. Characters, logos, photos, branded patterns, and another creator’s clothing may be protected. Roblox moderation and marketplace requirements remain independent.
