Choose a template for the destination format

Skin templates are useful when you want a clean starting file instead of modifying somebody else’s design. This directory collects the first-party blank canvases and mapping references currently published on SkinEditor.org for Minecraft skins and Roblox Classic Clothing. Use the search field to find a format, or filter the cards by platform. Each listed resource opens a working page with a downloadable or locally generated starting image and an explanation of what the file can and cannot represent.

There is no universal skin template. A modern Minecraft character skin normally uses a 64×64 PNG arranged as a compact UV texture. Classic and Slim models use different arm widths inside that layout. Roblox Classic Shirts and Pants commonly use a 585×559 clothing atlas, while Classic T-shirts are square front graphics rather than full wrapped clothing. A blank image with the wrong structure may still open in an image editor, but that does not make it suitable for the intended game.

Minecraft 64×64 template choices

The general Minecraft skin template page provides a modern 64×64 starting canvas and explains the relationship between base and overlay regions. The blank template page is for creators who want a clean, transparent document without copied character art. Separate Classic and Slim pages focus on the arm model decision so the intended geometry is established before detailed sleeves, gloves, or skin tones are drawn.

Choose Classic when the design is meant for four-pixel-wide arms. Choose Slim when it is meant for three-pixel-wide arms. The texture dimensions remain 64×64, so file size alone cannot reveal the correct choice. If you are rebuilding an existing design, inspect the arm faces and transparent columns rather than guessing from the filename.

A template is an unfolded texture, not a conventional front-facing character illustration. Adjacent rectangles may wrap around the front, back, sides, top, and bottom of a body part. Painting across an unknown boundary can create a seam when the file is placed on a model. Use the 3D viewer or editor preview during creation, and check both the base layer and optional overlay before export.

Roblox Shirt and Pants template choices

The Roblox Shirt and Pants resources create neutral 585×559 starting canvases with conceptual placement guidance. They do not redistribute an official Roblox template image or copied platform artwork. Use them to establish native dimensions, transparency, and a repeatable local file, then consult current authorized Roblox documentation for exact placement references and publishing requirements.

Classic Shirts and Pants are not interchangeable even though they often share the same overall canvas size. The intended body regions, visual emphasis, and garment workflow differ. A Shirt design may need torso and sleeve continuity; Pants may require waist, leg, and shoe alignment. A correct-size blank canvas does not automatically supply those decisions.

Roblox Classic T-shirts are also different: they use square front artwork and do not wrap around the torso like a Classic Shirt. This directory currently lists published Shirt and Pants starting resources. Use the dedicated T-shirt maker when the goal is a square front graphic rather than selecting a wrapped-clothing template.

What a blank file guarantees

A generated blank establishes measurable properties such as pixel dimensions, PNG output, transparent background behavior, and a known clean origin. It can help prevent accidental JPEG export, unexpected resizing, inherited metadata, copied copyrighted artwork, or stray colors from another project. It also gives you a stable original that can be duplicated for variants.

It does not guarantee correct artwork placement, successful moderation, ownership, upload eligibility, compatibility with every current client, or visual quality on a model. Those outcomes depend on your design, the destination format, platform rules, and final testing. Treat the template as the first controlled input in a workflow, not as proof that a finished file will be accepted.

Work locally and preserve source files

Template generation and downloads happen in the browser. SkinEditor.org does not require an account, publish the result to a gallery, or save projects in a business database. Your design remains a local file unless you later choose to upload it to a game platform or another service.

Keep the untouched template and save milestones under new filenames. Pixel artwork is easy to overwrite, and browser storage is not a durable backup. If you use an editor draft, remember that private browsing, cleared site data, a different browser, or a lost device can remove it. Downloading working versions is the reliable way to preserve progress.

A practical template workflow

First identify the destination: Minecraft Classic, Minecraft Slim, Roblox Classic Shirt, Roblox Classic Pants, or a square Roblox T-shirt graphic. Open the corresponding resource and read its format notes. Download or generate the blank file, then preserve one untouched copy. Add large color regions before fine details so mapping mistakes are easier to see.

Preview early rather than waiting until the design looks finished in 2D. For Minecraft, rotate the model and inspect inner limbs, the back, top faces, and overlay layer. For Roblox Classic Clothing, check the native atlas dimensions, review transparent areas, and test the image through current Roblox Studio workflows. Run a local checker before publishing and keep the last known-good PNG.

Use nearest-neighbor scaling only when a specific pixel-art transformation is intentional. Smooth resampling creates blended edge colors that may make crisp texture boundaries look blurry. Do not stretch a different diagram into the required dimensions and assume its regions have become valid; resizing changes pixels, not semantic mapping.

Rights and platform independence

Starting from a neutral template avoids copying another creator’s skin, but you are still responsible for every logo, character, pattern, photo, or brand element you add. Use artwork you created or have permission to adapt. A technically correct file can still infringe copyright, trademark, privacy, or platform rules.

SkinEditor.org is an independent tool and is not affiliated with Mojang, Microsoft, or Roblox Corporation. Platform names are used only to describe compatible formats and intended workflows. Always confirm current publishing instructions with the destination platform.

Frequently asked questions

Which Minecraft template should I choose?

Choose the 64×64 Classic template for four-pixel arms and Slim for three-pixel arms. If undecided, inspect the target model and sleeve layout before drawing.

Are Roblox Shirt and Pants templates the same?

They can share 585×559 dimensions, but their garment intent and placement workflow differ. Use the page designed for the item you are making.

Does a blank template include official game artwork?

No. The published resources use first-party neutral canvases and conceptual guides rather than redistributed official assets.

Will a template guarantee successful upload?

No. It provides a controlled starting format. Artwork mapping, rights, moderation, eligibility, and current platform rules still require separate review.
