Preview the final export, not only the design project
To preview Roblox clothes effectively, select the exact image that will be submitted. A layered editor project can look correct while the exported PNG has different dimensions, missing transparency, visible guides, or unintended scaling. The local workspace above decodes the final file without uploading it.
Choose Shirt, Pants, or T-shirt before interpreting the result. Then compare the flat image with the R6 or R15 rig. The preview is a diagnostic approximation, not the official Roblox renderer, but it provides a repeatable first pass for file and mapping problems.
Check dimensions before judging appearance
A full Classic Shirt or Pants canvas uses 585×559 pixels. A Classic T-shirt uses square artwork. If a full template is loaded as a T-shirt, or a square image is treated as a Shirt, the preview cannot represent the intended workflow.
Read the decoded dimensions rather than trusting the filename. Use the size checker when the image shape is uncertain, and the full clothing checker for alpha and UV coverage. Previewing a wrong-size file can reveal symptoms, but it does not repair the source.
Do not stretch an arbitrary image just to satisfy the dimensions. Correct mapping requires placing artwork in the proper template regions.
Begin with the 2D image
Inspect the flat export at 100 percent and at high zoom. Look for guide text, unexpected borders, empty content, soft edges, JPG artifacts, and semi-transparent pixels. Toggle light and dark backgrounds so pale outlines and dark halos become visible.
The 2D view answers whether the pixels themselves exist. If a mark is already missing or blurred in the flat image, changing the rig will not restore it. Return to the source and export again.
High zoom also reveals fractional resizing. Pixel art should have deliberate hard blocks rather than many accidental in-between colors.
Select the correct clothing type
Shirt, Pants, and T-shirt have different mapped purposes. A Shirt contains torso and arm faces. Pants focus on the lower body. A T-shirt is primarily a square graphic rather than a complete wrapped template.
Use the matching preview mode. If a torso graphic disappears when Shirt mode is selected, check whether it was actually created as square T-shirt artwork. If sleeve or back content is absent, confirm that those faces contain visible pixels in the final file.
Changing the preview type is a diagnosis, not a conversion. Use the appropriate maker or template to rebuild a file in another clothing format.
Compare R6 and R15
Switch between R6 and R15 without changing the file, rotation, or zoom. R6 uses simpler block-like segmentation. R15 adds articulated sections and joints, so artwork can appear differently around shoulders, elbows, waist, and knees.
Check whether an issue follows the mapped face on both rigs or appears mainly as deformation on one rig. Mirrored text on both usually indicates orientation. A stripe that remains correctly placed but bends more on R15 is more likely a proportion or articulation effect.

Rotate through a fixed inspection sequence
Do not stop at the front. Inspect front, right side, back, left side, then angled views. Keep the same order for every revision so comparisons remain consistent.
On a Shirt, inspect torso seams, shoulder transitions, outer and inner sleeves, cuffs, and the lower edge. On Pants, inspect waist continuity, inner and outer legs, shoes, and back surfaces. On a T-shirt, focus on placement, scale, background, and visible transparency.
Use slower rotation around complex seams. A problem hidden at the default angle may become obvious from the back or underside.
Inspect seams at high zoom
Seams join separate template rectangles. Continuous stripes, belts, hems, and patterns require matching edge positions and exact colors. One-pixel offsets can create visible jumps.
Zoom in and compare the boundary from both sides of the corner. If the colors look similar but a line remains, use the palette extractor to check exact Hex values. If the height differs, correct the source rows rather than hiding the seam with blur.
For diagonal artwork, evaluate the folded result. A flat template can look mathematically symmetrical while a corner transition appears uneven on the rig.
Verify orientation and mirroring
Left and right limbs do not always use artwork in the same visual direction. Text, arrows, pockets, emblems, and asymmetric stripes can reveal a mirror error.
During editing, place temporary direction marks on each uncertain face. Preview, identify inner, outer, front, and back, then remove those marks before export. This is faster than repeatedly guessing from a dense finished design.
If an element appears on the wrong surface, moving or mirroring it is required. Rotation controls only change the camera and cannot fix the template.
Test transparency on multiple backgrounds
Transparent and partially transparent pixels can look acceptable on one background but form halos on another. Switch between light and dark preview colors. Inspect edges around cuffs, collars, text, and cutouts.
An entirely opaque canvas may cover areas you intended to reveal. An almost empty image may contain only a faint mark. Run the checker to quantify visible, transparent, and partial-alpha pixels.
PNG is generally appropriate when transparency matters. Renaming a JPG to PNG does not recreate alpha or remove compression artifacts.
Compare revisions under identical settings
Save local revisions with clear numbers. Preview version 1 and record the clothing type, rig, rotation, zoom, and background. Make one category of change, export version 2, and repeat the same sequence.
This controlled loop reveals whether a seam correction helped without confusing it with a camera change. Keep the layered master separate from disposable exports.

Confirm in current official tools
Local preview reduces avoidable submissions, but it cannot reproduce every Roblox body shape, animation, texture filter, light, or platform update. After the source passes local inspection, test it in the current authorized Roblox workflow.
Document any difference precisely: which rig, body region, camera angle, and file version. Specific evidence makes the next correction much easier than a general report that the clothing “looks strange.”
